The neighborhoods south of Jackson offer a remote feel with relatively close proximity to town. Among open pastures a variety of neighborhoods dot the landscape, surrounded by the gently sloping terrain of the Snow King mountain complex to the east, Munger Mountain to the south and the Snake River plain that winds its way through the Jackson Hole valley. Even the more dense neighborhoods including Melody Ranch and Rafter J offer a plentitude of open spaces thanks to early foresight among planners. Along south park loop, larger tracts and horse properties are common, and with some working ranches, the expansive feeling of the old west permeates this part of the valley. Off of South Park Loop, farther-reaching properties are dispersed among grasslands, cottonwood trees, and protected bird sanctuaries offering a peaceful solitude.
The 3 Creek Ranch is a gated community that offers a private golf course and club. Scenic vistas of the Snake River and Tetons to the north as well as its close proximity to town make this a highly desirable location. A town pathway lines South Park loop and continues into town adding the ability to bike or walk into town.
Farther south, several small and exclusive neighborhoods including Little Horsetheif, Game Creek, and Polo Ranches offer exquisite properties, homes and scenery. At the south end of the valley the small town of Hoback is nestled at the confluence of the Hoback and Snake River offering river front real estate with a truly remote mountain feel.
